A tradition for over 20 years, the Kawartha Art Gallery
Annual Juried Student Exhibition is back!

The Kawartha Art Gallery's Annual Juried Student Exhibition returns, showcasing the exceptional talent of high school artists from across the region. This year's exhibition features a diverse range of media, exploring themes of landscape, identity, and everyday life. The exhibition provides a valuable platform for young artists to gain recognition and develop their skills. The exhibition runs from May 6th to June 12th at Kawartha Art Gallery, with an Awards Presentation Reception on May 16th at 2pm at the Pie Eyed Monk. We invite the community to experience the creativity and innovation of these talented young artists.

All are welcome to attend the Awards Presentation Reception!

Saturday, May 16th, 2026 • 2 to 4 pm at the Pie Eyed Monk in Lindsay
(2nd Floor, 8 Cambridge Street North, Lindsay K9V 4C3)

ABOUT THE EXHBIT

It is an opportunity for all high school students in the City of Kawartha Lakes and within the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and is one of our most anticipated exhibitions of the year.

The students’ works span a variety of media and include representations of landscape, everyday objects, loved ones, belonging and identity. This exhibition provides an exciting opportunity to showcase the wide variety and high quality of artwork created by our area high school students.

There was no limit on the number of students or grade level from each high school who may participate, with a maximum of one piece of original work per student, in any media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fibre arts, and digital art.

The student artworks were selected by an external juror, with the juror providing constructive comments and suggestions for acknowledging and building on the students’ skill sets. This year we were delighted to work with juror Tracy Heindl

ABOUT THE JUROR: Tracy Heindl
Tracy Heindl is a recently retired high school teacher who spent most of her 32 year career teaching students of Visual Arts at Fenelon Falls Secondary School.

Tracy has always enjoyed working with young people to help them nurture their artistic skills and ‘creative genius’. She has taught print-making classes at TLAC, painted many stage sets over the years for community musical productions at the FLATO theatre, and has provided a creative outlet for many children during her own summer ‘Art Camp’.

While Tracy seldom finishes her own art projects, Tracy has completed many privately commissioned works that included mostly murals and folk-art-style paintings. Tracy hopes to continue to inspire young artists and to pursue the completion of her own creative endeavours as she seeks balance between exploring the world and other local interests!

Tracy is very honoured to be this year’s Juror for the Student Juried Art Show.
