ABOUT DAVID LEASK
Originally from Scotland, David Leask draws inspiration from Celtic soul, folk/pop and roots rock, and is a βconsummate professional and phenomenal musician and entertainerβ not to be missed when he appears for one-night only at Lindayβs Pie-Eyed Monk on Thursday, May 23, at 7:00 pm.
With over 3,000 concerts in Canada, including annual appearances at the Fergus, ON Scottish Festival, which often touch and energize audiences to clap, dance, and leap to their feet for double-standing ovations, David Leask is also a compellingly original musician.
David has also been hailed as βthe most consistent Canadian songwriting competition winnerβ by Songwriters Magazine, and is the winner of Mississaugaβs 2021 βSongwriter of the Yearβ award. SOCAN Words and Music magazine describes David Leask as βearning immense respect from his peersβ. David is a mentor for Humber Collegeβs Graduate Certificate Program in Music Composition, is on the songwriting faculty for Guitar Workshop Plus, and was a songwriting mentor for eleven years with the School Alliance of Student Songwriters.
His last album, βVoyageur in Songβ is a unique record inspired by six pieces and their amazing stories from the famous Six-String Nation Guitar (nicknamed βVoyageurβ and made of 64 pieces of Canadian culture and history.) The Toronto Stardescribed βVoyageur in Songβ as βpossibly the most Canadian album on Canadaβs most historic instrument.β The UKβs Rock βN Reel Magazine called it βThat rare thing, a genuinely inspiring album.β
For those just discovering David Leaskβs uplifting music, weβd recommend searching on YouTube for βRed Balloonβ, and βWhen You Think No One Loves Youβ. The first single from Davidβs 8th album, βFeet In Your Shoesβ, is a song about empathy, which many have been moved to share with friends needing encouragement. The entire album, One Ray of Light at a Time, is filled with songs bringing hope to people in difficult times.
