Kawartha Art Gallery Acknowledges Support from Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund

The Kawartha Art Gallery (KAG) is pleased to announce the successful funding of an Artistic Director position, CARFAC fees for local artists, and an Artist Advocate contractor, through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund. This funding allows the KAG to continue on its growth trajectory, and fulfill its mandate to advance the notion ‘For the Art in Everyone’.

The Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time $400 million investment from the Government of Canada to support community service organizations, including charities, non-profits, and Indigenous governing bodies, as they adapt and modernize their organizations. This Fund responded to what community service organizations needed, and supports them as they adapt to the long-term.

Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development remarked, “The projects supported by the Government of Canada through the Community Services Recovery Fund demonstrate that we are a caring and compassionate society that values the well-being of all its members. It is heartening to see the compassion and empathy of our citizens as they give back to those in need. Projects like that of the Kawartha Art Gallery are a testament to the power of our collective action and our ability to come together to make a positive difference in the world. I am confident that together we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in the City of Kawartha Lakes.”

Kawartha Art Gallery strives to make art and culture accessible to all in the community and we are humbled to assist in furthering their mission and mandate of “For the Art in Everyone” through two employment positions.”

The Community Services Recovery Fund is being delivered through three National Funders - Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada, and United Way Centraide Canada.
